Nitin Bawankule, head of ad sales at DisneyStar has stepped down from his post after a stint of 2.5 years. He is expected to join Amazon next month.
According to Economic Times, Bawankule is serving his notice period and April 22 is his last day at the company.
DisneyStar has seen multiple senior-level exits in the last year, the most recent being Sunil Ryan, head of Disney+Hotstar, who resigned from his position last month.
Last year, Anil Jayraj, ad sales head of Star Sports, had quit joining as CEO of Viacom18’s sports business.
Bawankule had joined Star India on October 1, 2019, amidst its merger with the Walt Disney Company, as part of the global deal.
Before DisneyStar, he was country director- India for Google Cloud.
Bawankule was the industry director, working closely with Ecommerce, Retail, Online Classifieds (Real Estate, Matrimonials, Local, and Jobs), and Technology and Education players to grow the Indian online ecosystem and scale their businesses through digital marketing.
He has also worked at Dell for close to six years, Motorola, Whirlpool India, and Godrej GF Appliances.
Bawankule, an IIM Bangalore alumnus has over 27 years of experience in traditional sales and digital space. He had been with Google for over eight years.
