As Assam moves closer to the 2026 Assembly elections, News18 Network is set to host ‘Agenda Assam’ on February 22 in Guwahati, bringing eminent policymakers, influential voices and thought leaders together on one platform to deliberate on the state’s political and development landscape.
According to a press release report, the forum will feature discussions on governance, infrastructure, development priorities and the evolving socio-economic landscape, while examining Assam’s progress, key challenges and emerging opportunities shaping the state’s future.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will grace the event as the Chief Guest. Several distinguished dignitaries are also set to participate, including Pabitra Margherita, Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textile; Hagrama Mohilary, Chief of the Bodoland Territorial Council; Jayanta Malla Baruah, Minister of Public Health Engineering and Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of Assam; Ashok Singhal, Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Irrigation, Government of Assam; and Rupesh Gowala, Minister of Labour Welfare, Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare Department.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will also join the programme virtually, further adding significance to the platform.
Designed as a high-impact dialogue ahead of a crucial electoral cycle, ‘Agenda Assam’ aims to provide viewers with deeper insights into policy direction and the state’s development roadmap through engaging conversations and leaders’ perspectives. The initiative seeks to facilitate meaningful dialogue on public policy and governance while highlighting issues of regional importance.
The event also underscores the network’s continued commitment to responsible journalism and public engagement on matters of national and regional significance. The programme will be broadcast live on News18 India and News18 Assam Northeast on February 22.
