Reliance Industries highlighted the expanding scale of its media business at its 49th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday, with Network18 reaching 250 million television viewers every month and recording more than 65 billion video views across social media platforms during the year.
Addressing shareholders, Akash Ambani, Managing Director of Jio Platforms, outlined the growth of Network18’s television, digital, subscription and creator-led businesses, underscoring the company’s increasing influence across India’s media landscape.
Ambani said Network18 now has more than 450 million subscribers and followers across its digital platforms, reflecting the growing shift towards digital news and content consumption.
“Network18 reached 250 million people every month through television and has over 450 million subscribers and followers across its digital platforms,” Ambani said during the AGM.
The company highlighted the continued strength of its flagship news brands, with CNBC-TV18, CNN-News18 and News18 India maintaining leadership positions in their respective categories. Network18’s portfolio spans business, general news and regional content, helping it cater to a diverse audience base across the country.
Reliance also pointed to the growing success of Moneycontrol, which Ambani described as India’s leading financial intelligence platform. The company’s subscription-led offerings, including Moneycontrol Pro and Moneycontrol Super Pro, have contributed significantly to its paid digital business by providing investors with premium research, analytical tools and market insights.
Firstpost, another key digital property within the Network18 ecosystem, continues to attract audiences seeking deeper analysis and an Indian perspective on international developments, Ambani noted.
As the creator economy gains momentum, Reliance is also strengthening its presence in the influencer and creator-led content space. During the year, the company launched Creator18, a dedicated platform designed to help brands leverage creator-driven content and build stronger engagement with younger consumers across social media platforms.
“With the creator economy growing exponentially, the company launched Creator18. This offering strengthens its ability to deliver social media solutions for clients and develops new formats that resonate with the younger audience,” Ambani said.
The AGM update also highlighted the performance of Jio Studios, which Reliance described as India’s leading content studio in terms of revenue, content catalogue and box-office market share. The company said the ‘Dhurandhar’ franchise has crossed Rs.3,000 crore in worldwide box-office collections, while Jio Studios has retained its position as the highest-grossing Hindi film studio for three consecutive years.
The latest figures reflect Reliance’s continued focus on building a diversified media and entertainment ecosystem that combines television, digital publishing, subscription services, creator-led content and film production under one umbrella.
