Netflix yesterday unveiled the trailer of ‘Pyaar Prema Kalyanam’, a Tamil family entertainer that flips one of marriage’s oldest traditions, with the groom moving into the bride’s home instead of the bride leaving hers. Directed by and starring Elan in his acting debut, the film will premiere on Netflix on August 21.
The trailer introduces Pavi, played by Saanvee Meghana, a spirited influencer who refuses to leave the home she has always known. Her husband, played by Elan, instead moves into her house and becomes part of a lively new family where every day brings a fresh sambavam or experience.
Awkward first impressions, clashes and chaos surround the central question of who said the bride always has to leave.
According to a Netflix statement, , ‘Pyaar Prema Kalyanam’ combines romance, comedy and heartfelt moments, exploring a marriage that challenges long-held expectations while celebrating love, laughter and togetherness.
Elan said the film aims to tell a story that feels familiar yet refreshingly different, while Meghana described Pavi as confident, independent and unapologetically herself, with the character redefining what love and partnership can look like.
The film features Radhika Sarathkumar, Yogi Babu, M.S. Bhaskar, Geetha Kailasam, Elango Kumaravel, Senthil and Maran.
Radhika said the film opens conversations about changing family dynamics without losing its humour, while Yogi Babu said its comedy comes from everyday family situations.
