Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Chitrangada Satarupa starrer ‘I’m Not an Actor’ is set to hit theatres across India on May 8. The film will be distributed nationwide by Platoon One Films after completing its run in the United Kingdom and gaining recognition on the international festival circuit.
According to a UNI report, the film has already drawn attention for its unique narrative and performances, earning acting honours for both its lead actors. Directed and written by Aditya Kripalani, the project is produced in collaboration with Mumba Devi Motion Pictures and Side Hero Entertainment Pvt Ltd.
The story revolves around Mouni, played by Satarupa, a disciplined Mumbai-based actor who connects with Adnan Baig, portrayed by Siddiqui, a recently retired banker living in Frankfurt. What begins as an online audition evolves into an intense, day-long remote acting session conducted over video calls, gradually pushing both characters to confront deeply buried emotional truths.
One of the film’s most striking aspects is its production approach. It claims a first for Indian cinema, having been shot live across two countries simultaneously over a span of 28 days. While Siddiqui performed from Frankfurt and Satarupa from Mumbai, separate crews filmed them in real time, navigating a four-and-a-half-hour time difference along with starkly different weather conditions in both cities.
The film premiered at the Cinequest Film Festival and went on to receive multiple accolades. Siddiqui won Best Actor at the New York Indian Film Festival, while Satarupa secured the Best Actor (Female) award at the same event. Kripalani was honoured with Best Director (Jury) at the DC South Asian Film Festival.
Following its UK theatrical release in October 2025, the film is also expected to release in Germany shortly after its India debut, further expanding its international footprint.
