National Geographic is all set to bring back its much-loved Explorer Film Festival with a brand-new edition that celebrates adventure, discovery, and human resilience.

Featuring a lineup of bold, inspiring stories from across the globe, this year’s festival continues the channel’s legacy of storytelling that sparks curiosity and connects audiences to the wonders of the world. The new season will premiere on Sunday, November 9 at 10 pm, promising an unforgettable cinematic experience.

According to the report, the 2025 edition of the Explorer Film Festival highlights the remarkable work of National Geographic Explorers — scientists, conservationists, and adventurers whose extraordinary missions push the boundaries of human knowledge. From deep oceans to remote wildernesses and even the world’s most challenging terrains, the festival’s films pay tribute to courage, innovation, and the indomitable human spirit that drives exploration.

The festival’s lineup includes an exceptional mix of documentaries, beginning with ‘Love + War’, which follows Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Lynsey Addario, who has risked her life documenting the harsh realities of war in regions including the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. Another standout, ‘The Last Rhinos: A New Hope’, follows a team of scientists on a desperate mission to save the Northern White Rhino from extinction by attempting to create the world’s first surrogate rhino pregnancy — a breakthrough that could redefine wildlife conservation.

Nature lovers will be captivated by Secrets of the Penguins, which dives into the world of these fascinating creatures — revealing their courage, intelligence, and the deep bonds that help them survive in extreme environments. Meanwhile, ‘Titanic: The Digital Resurrection’ offers viewers a groundbreaking visual journey as a team of explorers uses advanced undersea scanning technology to create the first-ever high-resolution 3D digital twin of the Titanic, providing a new perspective on one of history’s most iconic shipwrecks.

Adding to the thrill are two powerful Explorer documentaries — ‘Lake of Fire’ and ‘The Deepest Cave. ‘Explorer: Lake of Fire’ follows a daring team of explorers who venture to the top of a remote and unexplored volcano to unravel the mysteries of when and why volcanoes erupt, while ‘Explorer: The Deepest Cave’ takes audiences on a gripping journey with world-class cavers navigating twisting tunnels and perilous paths in search of a passage leading to the bottom of the deepest cave on Earth.

In the lead-up to its premiere, National Geographic has planned a nationwide promotional campaign set to roll out two weeks prior, aiming to build anticipation and reignite excitement among viewers for this iconic celebration of exploration and adventure.

With its striking visuals, compelling narratives, and focus on real-life heroes, the Explorer Film Festival reaffirms National Geographic’s commitment to storytelling that educates, inspires, and awakens the explorer in everyone.
