The much-anticipated cinematic adaptation of the epic ‘Ramayana’, produced by Namit Malhotra, is all set to unveil its first look on July 3 across nine major Indian cities. Touted as one of the most ambitious and visually advanced films ever attempted in Indian cinema, the film’s unveiling will take place simultaneously in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, and Kochi.
According to a UNI report, the project is being positioned not merely as a retelling but as a global reinterpretation of the age-old mythological tale, crafted with state-of-the-art visual effects and immersive storytelling techniques. The film promises to merge traditional Indian narrative with international cinematic sophistication, giving audiences an entirely new experience of the ancient epic.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari, ‘Ramayana’ is being co-produced by Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with the Oscar-winning VFX company DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. Since its inception, the film has generated tremendous curiosity, thanks to its bold vision and the involvement of an international creative consortium known for groundbreaking work in cinema.
The story, rooted in one of the world’s most cherished mythologies, will be brought to life over two parts. The first installment is scheduled for a grand theatrical release during Diwali 2026, followed by the concluding chapter in Diwali 2027. With high expectations from audiences and industry watchers alike, ‘Ramayana’ is being closely followed as a benchmark project that could redefine Indian storytelling on the global stage.
