After a three-year hiatus, one of Indian television’s most iconic fantasy franchises is set to make a dramatic comeback. ‘Naagin’ returns with its seventh season on December 27, 2025, as JioStar and Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms bring ‘Naagin 7’ to the screen, closing the year with what is being billed as the biggest fantasy drama of 2025.
The much-awaited season marks the return of the popular question, “Naagin Kab Aayegi?”, now finally answered with scale, spectacle and a renewed mythological vision.
‘Naagin 7’ introduces a powerful new chapter in the franchise, with Priyanka Chahar Choudhary making one of television’s most anticipated comebacks as the Serpent Queen. Taking on the iconic mantle, she leads the ‘Naagin’ universe into its next phase, promising high-stakes drama, enhanced visual storytelling and an emotionally charged narrative. Namik Paul will be seen in a pivotal role, adding further intrigue to the storyline.
This season pushes the mythology into uncharted territory as the story unfolds against the backdrop of the sacred Mahakumbh. When a devastating toxic catastrophe threatens the nation, Naagin uncovers a truth that changes her destiny forever—she is the chosen heir of the Anantkul, destined to rise and protect India from destruction. What begins as a personal journey soon transforms into a mythic, national battle, positioning Naagin as a guardian fighting forces far beyond herself.
Alok Jain of JioStar said that Naagin has long transcended television to become a cultural phenomenon. He noted that with Season 7, the franchise has been elevated through AI-assisted visual design and enhanced VFX to meet contemporary viewer expectations. According to him, the new season strikes a careful balance between nostalgia and reinvention, while pushing creative and technological boundaries to deliver a story that is larger in scale and deeply engaging.
Producer Ektaa Kapoor of Balaji Telefilms described Naagin 7 as the franchise’s biggest creative leap yet. She said that over the last decade, Naagin has evolved from a television show into a cultural legacy rooted in India’s love for myths and mystery. For the first time, the story is set against the Mahakumbh, one of the country’s most significant cultural milestones, and reimagined through a grander lens that introduces dragons, werewolves and new mystical realms, expanding the Naagin universe like never before.
Expressing her excitement, Priyanka Chahar Choudhary said stepping into the role of Naagin feels like a dream realised. She recalled the moment on Bigg Boss when Ekta Kapoor hinted that she would be the next Naagin, calling her casting a full-circle moment. Describing her character Purvi, she said the role’s emotional depth and transformation—from innocence to extraordinary strength—drew her to the project. She added that she hopes audiences connect with the emotion, power and evolution her character brings to the new season.
The show also features a strong ensemble cast including Beena Banerjee, Karan Kundrra, Tejasswi Prakash, Alice Kaushik and Ruhi Chaturvedi. ‘Naagin 7’ premieres on December 27 and will air every Saturday and Sunday at 8 pm on COLORS and JioHotstar, promising viewers a spectacle where myth, destiny and fierce battles collide once again.
