In exciting news for Malayalam cinema fans, legendary actor Mohanlal has officially announced ‘Drishyam 3’, reuniting with acclaimed director Jeethu Joseph for the much-anticipated next chapter in the iconic thriller series.
The announcement was made during a special event, where Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph confirmed that the script for ‘Drishyam 3’ is currently in development. While they remained tight-lipped about the plot, both hinted that the third installment will pick up where ‘Drishyam 2’ left off, delving deeper into George Kutty’s complex mind and the aftermath of his carefully concealed crime, a PTI report stated yesterday.
“Georgekutty’s journey has been one of resilience, intelligence, and emotional depth. We’re excited to take the story forward with even more twists and suspense,” Mohanlal shared during the announcement.
The ‘Drishyam’ franchise, known for its gripping narrative and clever storytelling, has been a massive success since its inception in 2013. The sequel, ‘Drishyam 2’ (2021), continued the legacy, earning widespread acclaim and solidifying the series as a cult classic. The franchise’s success even spurred multiple remakes in languages like Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, with the Hindi version starring Ajay Devgn becoming a box-office hit.
Director Jeethu Joseph assured fans that ‘Drishyam 3’ will maintain the signature suspense and emotional depth that made the earlier films iconic. “We are crafting a story that stays true to the essence of Georgekutty’s character while introducing unexpected twists that will leave audiences guessing till the end,” Joseph revealed.
