India’s social media conversation during the week of July 13-19, 2026 was driven by a mix of sports, entertainment and politics, with cricket brands, leading public figures and digital creators dominating engagement across platforms, according to Comscore’s latest India weekly social media insights.
Instagram, Facebook, X and YouTube together recorded strong audience interactions, with video-led content continuing to generate the highest engagement, the Comscore insight released yesterday stated.
Among individual platforms, actor Sonakshi Sinha topped Instagram with 6,733,857 total actions, while India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Facebook with 3,111,730 total actions.
Cricketer Virat Kohli was the most engaging personality on X with 145,936 total actions, whereas creator Priyal Kukreja dominated YouTube with 18,422,494 video views, the highest platform-specific figure of the week.
Comscore noted that the YouTube number represents total video views rather than engagement actions.
The Indian Cricket Team emerged as the country’s leading brand across social platforms with 33,081,826 total actions during the week. It was followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore with 27,561,814 total actions and Star Sports with 25,999,815.
Entertainment-focused platforms InstantBollywood and RVCJ Media completed the top five with 23,905,758 and 15,385,913 total actions, respectively.
Among influencers, Prime Minister Modi ranked first with 22,334,552 total actions, ahead of actor Sonakshi Sinha at 12,764,305 and Arvind Kejriwal at 11,714,664.
Digital creators BeerBiceps and Kavya Karnatac occupied the fourth and fifth positions with 8,103,344 and 7,731,445 total actions, respectively.
On the sponsorship front, Chungath Jewellery emerged as the week’s top sponsor through its association with Manorama Online, generating 53,185 total actions.
Hyundai India ranked second for its sponsorship of Manorama Online with 5,287 total actions, while the Council on Energy, Environment and Water placed third through its partnership with The Viral Fever, recording 811 total actions.
The ranking of sponsored brands mirrored the sponsorship table, with Manorama Online topping the list through partnerships with Chungath Jewellery and Hyundai India, while The Viral Fever ranked third through its collaboration with the Council on Energy, Environment and Water.
Comscore also identified #engvind among the week’s trending hashtags, alongside several widely used Hindi terms like के, की, odi and और.
The most-used emojis across social platforms during the period included , , , and , reflecting continued engagement around sports, entertainment and lifestyle content.
According to the report’s methodology, ‘total actions’ measure overall audience engagement and include reactions, likes, shares, comments, reposts and similar interactions across Facebook, X, Instagram and YouTube, with YouTube figures reflecting video views only.
Comscore also noted that all reported figures may increase over time as additional activity is recorded after the reporting period.
