The Indian government has raised basic customs duty on import of sub-parts of mobile phones and battery chargers to 2.5 per cent from zero during financial year 2021-22.

The duty will be levied on mobile phone parts like printed circuit board assembly (PCBA), camera module, connectors, back-cover and cell phone charger.
Even as the electronic industry reads the fine prints of the Union Budget 2021-22, it is expected that manufacturers of the above mentioned items likely to pass on the increased costs to the customers.
