Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju, who visited the Kolkata-based Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTI), reviewed the progress and functioning of the institution that has recently been granted the status of a deemed-to-be university.
Appreciating the strides made by SRFTI, Jaju on September 6 emphasised the importance of integrating cutting-edge creative technologies such as AVGC-XR into academic programmes. He encouraged collaborations with premier institutions like the Indian Institute of Creative Technology, and other centres of excellence to enrich the curriculum and open new creative avenues, an official statement stated in New Delhi.
The Secretary underlined the need for strong global linkages with reputed international universities to provide students and faculty with world-class exposure, research opportunities, and skills that would make them “market-ready” for the fast-evolving film, media and entertainment sector.
Highlighting the significance of SRFTI’s new academic status, Jaju called for the creation of world-class physical infrastructure and human resources. He noted that modern facilities, state-of-the-art studios, and strengthened faculty resources will be critical to realising the vision of the institute as a premier national university of creative excellence.
The Secretary also placed special focus on incubation and placements, encouraging partnerships with IICT, IITs, IIMs, NFDC, OTT platforms, and industry stakeholders to create a vibrant ecosystem where innovative ideas can be nurtured into real-world solutions.
