The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has advised all private satellite television channels to prominently display the caption ‘Courtesy: Sansad TV’ whenever they use, reproduce, share or incorporate parliamentary proceedings or other content produced or supplied by Sansad TV.
The advisory was issued on October 7, 2026, by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting from its office at Kartavya Bhawan-II, New Delhi. According to the MIB advisory, the direction has been issued to ensure greater clarity about the source of parliamentary footage and programmes being used across television platforms.
Sansad TV provides live and primary television coverage of proceedings of both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. It also produces a range of programmes, discussions, interviews, documentaries and other content related to Parliament and current affairs.
The Ministry noted that Sansad TV’s proceedings and programmes are extensively used, reproduced, excerpted and incorporated by various private satellite television channels. However, it has been observed that the source of such footage is not consistently acknowledged by channels while using or sharing the content.
In view of this, the MIB has advised all private satellite TV channels to prominently display the caption ‘Courtesy: Sansad TV’ whenever they telecast, reproduce, share or incorporate proceedings of either House of Parliament or any programme or content produced or supplied by Sansad TV.
The Ministry said that uniform attribution would help bring greater clarity regarding the source of parliamentary footage and programmes being used across television platforms.
The advisory, issued with the approval of the Competent Authority, has also been circulated to self-regulatory bodies of TV channels registered under the Cable Television (Amendment) Rules, 2021, associations and bodies of electronic media, the Broadcast Seva Portal and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting website.
