In a bid to enhance user interaction, Instagram, owned by Meta, is reportedly developing a feature enabling users to compose messages with the assistance of artificial intelligence (AI).
App researcher Alessandro Paluzzi shared a screenshot revealing an option to “write with AI” while messaging another user, IANS reported.
Paluzzi indicated that the functionality might involve paraphrasing messages in various styles, akin to Google’s Magic Compose. Meta, the parent company of Instagram, is gradually introducing new experiences through generative AI features, aiming to enrich the ways people connect with each other.
Meta’s AI, designed as an assistant for one-on-one or group chats, offers diverse capabilities such as providing recommendations, offering humor, settling debates, and answering questions. Currently available in the United States, users can interact with Meta AI by starting a new message and selecting ‘Create an AI chat’ or by typing ‘@MetaAI’ in a group chat.
The Meta AI assistant is set to expand its presence to WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram, introducing numerous AI characters based on celebrities like MrBeast and Charli D’Amelio. Public figures such as Tom Brady, MrBeast, and Naomi Osaka will play some of these characters, each embodying distinctive traits.
In addition to fostering communication, Meta AI in Instagram’s Reels will assist users in decision-making, such as suggesting places based on video reviews, providing dance tutorials, or offering inspiration for creative projects. As Meta continues to innovate in the AI space, users can expect more engaging and personalized experiences across its platforms.
