India’s First Global Multicast News Hub – Live Times brought a special Independence Day episode of Facts & Figures with veteran journalist Rana Yashwant, presenting an extraordinary journey of how India has transformed challenges into milestones since 1947. The show turned statistics into a narrative of resilience and achievement, highlighting the country’s rise in education, agriculture, technology, space, and economy.

In a press release, Live Times said the Facts & Figures episode reminded viewers that India’s progress has always been built on a solid foundation of education. From 1.63 lakh schools at the time of Independence to nearly 15 lakh today, literacy has soared from just 18 percent in 1947 to close to 80 percent, while the education budget has expanded from ₹74 crore to more than ₹1.28 lakh crore.

The programme also shed light on landmark movements such as the Green and White Revolutions, which changed India’s future forever. From Lal Bahadur Shastri’s call for self-reliance to India’s emergence as the world’s largest milk producer and the second-largest grower of wheat and rice, the episode showcased how visionary leadership and the resilience of citizens converted crises into opportunities.

Technology and space formed another chapter in the nation’s journey. The episode traced India’s rise from introducing computers in classrooms in 1986 to becoming a global IT powerhouse employing millions of software professionals. It also followed the journey from Aryabhatt, India’s first satellite, to Chandrayaan-3, underlining how the country continues to set benchmarks in science and innovation.

The economic strides were another highlight. From being the world’s 11th largest economy, India now stands at 4th, having overtaken the UK and Japan, and is projected to become the 3rd largest by 2027. With a GDP of $4.19 trillion — next only to the U.S. ($30 trillion), China ($20 trillion), and Germany ($4.74 trillion) — India’s growth is supported by a thriving startup ecosystem, digital innovations such as UPI, and a growth rate that outpaces many major economies.

Audiences can watch Facts & Figures across multiple platforms including DD Free Dish (Channel 100), Tata Play (539), Airtel Digital TV (385), Dish TV (665), Sikka Cable (519), and Jio TV (3069). The programme is also available for streaming via Tata Play Mobile, Airtel Xstream, Dish TV Watcho, DD Waves, and on the website www.livetimes.news.
