A new chapter in music video creation was unveiled at the inaugural day of the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025, as ‘Koyal.AI’ made its official debut with a showcase of visually rich, emotionally resonant music videos generated entirely by artificial intelligence.
Koyal is a next-generation generative AI audio-to-video storytelling platform that converts sound into compelling video narratives. Its launch at WAVES 2025 in Mumbai featured a series of visually stunning music videos that drew attention from artists, creators, and industry leaders alike. Playback singer and composer Shankar Mahadevan and music legend A.R. Rahman collaborated on the “Waves Album” using Koyal’s platform, alongside artists Ricky Kej and Meet Brothers, further cementing the AI tool’s relevance and creative potential in the music industry.
According to an ANI report, the technology behind Koyal goes far beyond basic video generation. It uses advanced AI models to understand and translate audio tracks into visuals that reflect emotion, context, and narrative depth. At the heart of the platform is its multimodal AI suite and state-of-the-art character consistency features, allowing creators to retain visual coherence and stylistic identity throughout the video. This cutting-edge capability is being positioned as a game-changer in the way musicians, production houses, and brands approach visual storytelling.
Koyal’s founders, sister-brother duo Gauri Agarwal and Mehul Agarwal — graduates of MIT and Carnegie Mellon University, with research experience at Meta — shared their vision at the launch. “Koyal is here to democratize storytelling,” they said. “Our technology reduces cost, time, and effort while empowering creators to visualise their music and stories across all formats like never before.”
The platform’s proprietary personalization engine, CHARCHA, which was presented at NeurIPS 2024, plays a crucial role in making the videos contextually rich and artist-specific. This engine ensures that each video feels unique and tailored to the artist’s intent, mood, and sonic texture.
Already working with names like Universal Music India, 101India.com, US Premier League, and Grammy/Oscar-winning artists, Koyal is expected to become a disruptive force in the global content creation ecosystem. It aims to eliminate the traditional barriers of cost and complexity by offering scalable, studio-quality video generation — enabling musicians, podcasters, and brands to bring their stories to life like never before.
The WAVES 2025 Summit, hosted by the Government of India in Mumbai from May 1 to 4, serves as a key platform for innovations like Koyal that aim to redefine the future of India’s Media & Entertainment sector.
