Kit Harington joins ‘Harry Potter’ S2 as Gilderoy Lockhart

Actor Kit Harington has joined the second season of HBO’s upcoming ‘Harry Potter’ series. He will play Gilderoy Lockhart, the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts.

According to an ANI report from Washington today, Harington is best known for playing Jon Snow in the popular series ‘Game of Thrones’. He will take over the role of Lockhart from Nicholas Hoult, who was previously announced for the part.

Gilderoy Lockhart is a famous wizard who appears in ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’. He is known for his confidence and his habit of taking credit for other wizards’ achievements.

The second season of the HBO series will be based on ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’. Production is expected to begin later this year.Harington has also previously voiced Gilderoy Lockhart for the ‘Harry Potter’ full-cast audiobooks.
