The Indian Broadcasting & Digital Foundation (IBDF) has appointed Kevin Vaz, CEO of Jio Star’s entertainment division, as its new president during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the capital. Vaz succeeds K. Madhavan, former Country Manager of Disney Star, marking a significant leadership transition for the organization.
The AGM, chaired by Rajat Sharma, Chairman of India TV and Vice President of IBDF, highlighted the pivotal role of the foundation in shaping India’s broadcasting and digital landscape. Sharma praised Madhavan’s contributions and set the stage for a new phase of growth under Vaz’s leadership, The Economic Times.
Accepting his role, Vaz expressed his enthusiasm for taking charge at a transformative juncture for India’s media and entertainment sector. “India’s appetite for content is unmatched,” he noted. “As we embrace technology, it is imperative to democratize content creation, ensuring it transcends demographic and geographic barriers. The proliferation of 5G, smartphones, and connected TVs presents unique opportunities for creators beyond traditional hotspots.”
