Longtime collaborators Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell are set to reunite once again, this time venturing into the world of horror comedy with a new feature titled ‘Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein’. The film will see the popular duo return not only as lead actors but also as producers, marking another chapter in their decades-long creative partnership.
According to a UNI report, the project is scheduled to begin principal photography this summer and is being co-produced by Thompson’s Artists for Artists banner along with Range Media Partners. Inspired by the classic Abbott and Costello monster films, the movie is described as a playful homage to vintage horror, blending old-school monster tropes with contemporary comic sensibilities.
The screenplay is being written by Jonah Feingold, known for At Midnight and 31 Candles. Thompson and Mitchell are producing alongside John Ryan Jr., Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Carter Swan, while Will Hariton, Azim Spicer and Monica Weber serve as executive producers. Range Media Partners is handling worldwide sales for the project, reports Deadline.
Thompson announced the film during an appearance on Prime Video’s Good Sports, sharing his enthusiasm for working with Mitchell once again. “Kel and I have always loved finding new ways to work together, and this project felt like the perfect mix of nostalgia, comedy and something completely unexpected,” he said. “We’re excited to bring a fresh take on a classic monster story and have some fun doing it.”
Mitchell echoed the sentiment, calling the reunion a natural fit. “Coming back together always feels natural, and this lets us tap into everything people love about our dynamic while trying something totally new,” he said. “It’s funny, it’s scary, and it’s a great ride.”
Thompson and Mitchell first teamed up on Nickelodeon’s ‘All That before’ becoming defining faces of 1990s television through ‘Kenan & Kel and Good Burger’. Their most recent collaboration was ‘Good Burger 2’ in 2023, and ‘Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein’ now adds a nostalgic yet inventive new entry to their shared legacy.
