Bollywood actor Katrina Kaif has been announced as the new global brand ambassador for the Maldives, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) said on Tuesday. The 41-year-old actor will be the face of “The Sunny Side of Life” campaign, which aims to promote the island nation as a top travel destination for tourists and honeymooners alike.
According to a PTI report, the MMPRC—also known as Visit Maldives—made the official announcement, welcoming Kaif to represent the country on a global stage. The campaign will highlight the Maldives’ picturesque white-sand beaches, clear turquoise waters, luxurious resorts, and its growing appeal among Indian travellers, particularly for leisure and honeymoon tourism.
Kaif, who commands a global fanbase and is known for her elegant image and love for travel, expressed her excitement and gratitude at being chosen to represent the country. “I am delighted to be the face of such a beautiful campaign. The Maldives is truly one of the most stunning destinations in the world, and I feel honoured to bring its beauty and culture to global audiences,” she was quoted as saying by Sun Online.
The appointment is expected to boost the Maldives’ visibility in key international markets, especially India, which has consistently ranked among the top source markets for tourist arrivals. MMPRC officials noted that Kaif’s association with the campaign reflects their strategy of blending celebrity outreach with immersive storytelling to further cement the Maldives’ image as a premium travel destination.
In recent years, the Maldives has leaned heavily into strategic tourism marketing, collaborating with global influencers, content creators, and celebrities to reach a wider, more diverse audience. With Katrina Kaif on board, Visit Maldives hopes to further solidify its standing as the go-to getaway for tropical luxury and romantic escapes.
