Bollywood’s powerhouse actress Kareena Kapoor Khan and South Indian superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran are all set to share the screen for the first time in Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming film ‘Daayra’. The announcement, made earlier today, has created quite a buzz among fans and the film industry alike.
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, known for her emotionally gripping narratives like ‘Raazi’ and ‘Chhapaak’, Daayra is being touted as a high-stakes emotional drama with a layered storyline. The project brings together two exceptionally talented actors from different cinematic worlds, raising expectations for a powerful on-screen collaboration.
According to IANS, ‘Daayra’ will explore intense human emotions, set against a socially relevant backdrop, a hallmark of Meghna Gulzar’s storytelling style. Kareena, who recently impressed audiences with her digital debuts and bold script choices, is said to be playing one of the most challenging roles of her career. On the other hand, Prithviraj Sukumaran, who has consistently balanced his career between Malayalam, Tamil, and Hindi cinema, brings a quiet intensity that perfectly complements Meghna’s vision.
Sharing her excitement, Kareena Kapoor called ‘Daayra’ a “once-in-a-lifetime story” and expressed her eagerness to work with both Meghna and Prithviraj. Prithviraj too, in a heartfelt message, praised Meghna’s storytelling finesse and said he is “thrilled” to be collaborating with Kareena for the first time.
Production is slated to begin later this year, with filming expected across multiple locations in India. If industry buzz is anything to go by, ‘Daayra’ could very well be one of the most talked-about releases when it hits screens in 2025.
With an acclaimed director at the helm, a riveting storyline, and two cinematic giants leading the charge, ‘Daayra’ promises to be a film that will leave a lasting impact.
