The Asia Video Industry Association (AVIA) has announced the election of two new Board Directors — K. Aravamudhan, Executive Vice President, Public Policy & Legal at JioStar, and Vivek Couto, Co-Founder, CEO and Executive Director of Media Partners Asia.
Both leaders bring decades of industry experience and a strong grasp of the evolving media landscape, strengthening AVIA’s strategic focus as the video sector undergoes rapid digital and regulatory shifts.
According to a press note from AVIA, the association has also confirmed the re-election of several existing board members, including Emily Yri of Pubmatic, Desmond Chan of TVB, Joe Welch of The Walt Disney Company, and Shonali Bedi of Warner Bros. Discovery. Their continued presence on the board ensures continuity of expertise at a time when the industry is navigating complex challenges around growth, monetisation and consumer behaviour.
The newly elected and re-elected directors are expected to play a key role in AVIA’s efforts to advance industry advocacy, support regional collaboration, and shape policy dialogue across markets. Their collective experience spans content strategy, international marketing, public policy, legal frameworks and data-driven insights, offering AVIA a broad spectrum of perspectives to guide its work.
AVIA also extended its gratitude to outgoing directors Agnes Rozario of Astro and Greg Armshaw, formerly of Brightcove, acknowledging their valuable contributions to the association. Their tenure supported AVIA through significant phases of industry change, and their efforts remain an important part of the organisation’s ongoing progress.
