Reliance Jio Studios has strengthened its content strategy with the acquisition of a majority stake in Sikhya Entertainment, one of India’s most globally recognised production houses.
According to a press release from Reliance Jio, Reliance Strategic Business Ventures Limited (RSBVL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited, has acquired a 50.1 per cent equity stake in Sikhya Entertainment Private Limited for an aggregate cash consideration of Rs.150 crore through a mix of primary and secondary transactions.
The move is aimed at consolidating Jio Studios’ position in the media and entertainment space by expanding its slate of premium films and series for Indian and global audiences. The partnership brings together Jio Studios’ scale, distribution strength and long-term vision with Sikhya Entertainment’s strong reputation for culturally rooted storytelling that has found resonance on the world stage.
Over the years, Jio Studios has emerged as a key force in India’s content economy, backing projects that have delivered both commercial success and critical acclaim. Its portfolio includes landmark titles such as ‘Dhurandhar’, ‘Laapataa Ladies’ and the ‘Stree’ franchise. The collaboration with Sikhya is expected to further strengthen its ability to build enduring intellectual property while nurturing a creator-led ecosystem.
Sikhya Entertainment, founded by Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain, is widely regarded for redefining the global perception of Indian storytelling. The production house is the only one from India to have won both an Academy Award and multiple National Film Awards. Its Oscar wins include ‘Period. End of Sentence.’ and ‘The Elephant Whisperers’, while its National Award-winning films span languages and regions, including ‘Masaan’, ‘Soorarai Pottru’ and ‘Kathal’. Its diverse filmography also features acclaimed titles such as ‘The Lunchbox’, ‘Pagglait’ and ‘Kill’, underscoring its focus on strong narratives and performance-driven cinema.
Commenting on the development, Jyoti Deshpande, President – Jio Studios, said the association reflects a shared belief in stories that are deeply Indian yet universally relatable. She noted that the partnership will help Indian stories travel further, backed by Jio Studios’ creative and distribution capabilities and Sikhya’s distinctive storytelling legacy.

They emphasised that the collaboration aligns with their long-held belief in cinema’s ability to connect cultures, languages and geographies.
