British actor Isla Johnston, best known for her performances in ‘Kiri’ and Netflix’s acclaimed series ‘The Queen’s Gambit’, is in negotiations to take on the lead role in Warner Bros’ upcoming historical epic ‘Jehanne d’Arc’.
According to a PTI report ,the 18-year-old actor will headline the project, which is being helmed by celebrated filmmaker Baz Luhrmann. The Australian director, renowned for films such as ‘Strictly Ballroom’, ‘Moulin Rouge!’, ‘Australia’, and ‘The Great Gatsby’, has also co-written the screenplay with Ava Pickett.
‘Jehanne d’Arc’ is expected to bring to screen the story of the legendary French heroine Joan of Arc, a young peasant girl who rose to prominence during the Hundred Years’ War and went on to become a symbol of courage, faith, and resilience. For Johnston, the film will mark her first leading role in a major studio project, a significant step in her rising career.
