Instagram is testing a new feature called ‘Features’ that will allow selected creators to upload horizontal videos of up to 90 minutes. The feature is aimed at creators who make long-form content, including podcasts, comedy shows and interviews.
According to an ANI report today, the new format is part of Instagram’s efforts to expand its video offerings and compete with platforms such as YouTube.
The feature was initially tested with selected creators in Brazil and is now being expanded to a small group of creators in the United States. Instagram is also testing a feature that will allow creators to link short Reels to their full-length videos, helping viewers discover and watch complete episodes.
The longer videos are expected to appear in users’ main feeds and the Explore section. Instagram aims to connect short videos with longer content so viewers can move from a short clip to a full episode without leaving the platform.
The company is also working to support long-form videos on its TV app. However, the new ‘Features’ format is still being tested, and Instagram has not announced a wider rollout date.
