The India Today Group has announced the appointment of Rudra Kasturi as Chief Strategy Officer (Digital Business) and Shailesh Shekhar as Chief Synergy Officer, effective June 1, 2024.
These appointments were approved by the Board of Directors of T.V. Today Network Limited, marking a significant step in the company’s strategic leadership expansion, the channel said in a statement.
Rudra Kasturi brings over two decades of experience in digital transformation and strategic leadership to his new role. He is recognized for his expertise in search, audience development, revenue growth, and partnerships.
Prior to joining India Today Group, Kasturi held significant positions at major organizations such as Times Group, Byju’s, Snapdeal, Amazon, and Yahoo.
His extensive consulting experience with companies like Tencent, Anther, PickYourTrail, and various global unions highlights his ability to navigate diverse market environments effectively. Kasturi’s appointment is set to bolster the digital business strategy of the India Today Group, leveraging his rich industry experience and innovative approach.
Shailesh Shekhar, with over three decades of experience in journalism across print, television, and digital platforms, is poised to enhance synergies within the company. Shekhar began his career as a correspondent for daily newspapers and transitioned to TV news channels in the mid-90s, a pivotal time for television in India.
Over the past 20 years, he has led digital businesses for prominent media companies in India and the global content ecosystem of Microsoft Start (MSN). Shekhar’s earlier tenure at India Today Group saw him serve as COO & Editor of its digital business.
His illustrious career also includes stints at BCCL, HT Media, and TVi (BiTV). An alumnus of the University of Delhi, Shekhar furthered his studies in Journalism at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication and Broadcast and Digital Journalism at Cardiff University in the UK, where he was a Chevening Scholar.
These strategic appointments underscore the India Today Group’s commitment to strengthening its digital business and enhancing operational synergies across its platforms. By leveraging the extensive experience and innovative vision of Kasturi and Shekhar, the company aims to drive growth and maintain its leadership position in the media industry.
