Umesh Bist, director of ‘Pagglait‘, has been signed for the second time by Guneet Monga and her production company Sikhya Entertainment.
According to Monga, “Umesh is a prolific storyteller with a deep and delicate understanding of human emotions. That is why so many people were moved by Pagglait’s moving and extraordinary story. Sikhya is working with Umesh Bist for the second time “.
The project’s specifics have yet to be made public, a PTI report stated.
Meanwhile, Sikhya’s Netflix documentary short film ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ is headed to the 95th Academy Awards.
‘The Elephant Whisperers,’ directed by Kartiki Gonsalves, tells the story of an indigenous couple in south India who form a bond with an orphaned elephant named Raghu and take care of it.
The Academy has nominated the film as one of the top five documentary shorts in the world, marking producer Guneet Monga’s third Oscar nomination.
Monga has previously been nominated for her short film ‘Kavi’ (2010), ‘Period. End of Sentence’ (2018), which won an Oscar, and now, ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ (2022).
