A government committee has recommended that the ban on streaming of Diljit Dosanjh starrer film ‘Satluj’ in India should continue, citing concerns related to the country’s sovereignty and security, according to government sources.

The Honey Trehan directed film is based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who investigated the cremation of thousands of unidentified bodies in Punjab between 1984 and 1994. Khalra was abducted and killed by the state police in 1995.

According to a PTI report, the film was removed from ZEE5 for viewers in India just two days after its release on July 3. The move came after the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting raised security-related concerns over the film’s content.

The committee was formed by the Centre to review the film and examine whether it should be allowed for public viewing. After reviewing the content, the panel has reportedly suggested continuing the restriction on its online streaming in India.
