Google has announced a new student offer giving eligible college students one year of a Google AI plan free of charge. For students in the US, the offer includes one year of Google AI Pro, while eligible students in more than 140 markets outside the US can get one year of Google AI Plus.
According to a Google Blog post yesterday, eligible college students can get Google AI Pro free for 12 months. The plan is valued at $19.99 per month and includes four times higher usage limits in Gemini, access to Gemini Spark, Gemini features in apps such as Gmail and Google Docs, and 5 TB of storage.
For eligible students outside the US, Google is offering one year of Google AI Plus free of charge in more than 140 markets where the plan is available. It includes access to Gemini Omni, twice the standard usage limits in Gemini and 400 GB of storage. The offer is not available in the US, Bolivia, Albania, Canada, Macau, Hong Kong and Tunisia.
Google is also introducing a dedicated student hub in the Gemini app. Students can use it to create study notebooks, make flashcards, take practice quizzes and access other learning tools in one place.
The company is also enhancing study notebooks, which can use students’ class materials to create customised lessons, quizzes and progress tracking. Gemini can also help students schedule important dates such as exams and assignment deadlines in Google Calendar from their syllabus, with their permission.
Another new feature is interactive visualisation, which can create 3D simulations to help students understand topics more easily. Google is also bringing Deep Research to Gemini Live, allowing students to start detailed research and then discuss the results through a conversation with Gemini.
