The titanic cinematic clash is set to continue as the much-anticipated sequel to ‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’ has officially received a title and release date. Titled ‘Godzilla x Kong: Supernova’, the next chapter in Legendary’s Monsterverse will arrive in theatres on March 26, 2026.
As per an ANI report, the film is currently under production and will be directed by Grant Sputore, best known for helming the sci-fi thriller ‘I Am Mother’. The announcement also reveals that the upcoming film will raise the stakes even higher, featuring new human characters joining forces with the iconic Titans Godzilla and Kong as they prepare to battle an unprecedented, cataclysmic threat that could bring about the end of the world.
The ensemble cast includes several prominent names, with Kaitlyn Dever, Jack O’Connell, Delroy Lindo, Matthew Modine, Alycia Debnam-Carey, and Sam Neill joining the Monsterverse. Dan Stevens will reprise his role as veterinarian Trapper Beasley from The New Empire, which became the highest-grossing entry in the franchise upon its release last year.
The screenplay for ‘Godzilla x Kong: Supernova’ has been penned by Dave Callaham, known for his work on Marvel’s ‘Shang-Chi’ and the ‘Legend of the Ten Rings’. The Monsterverse began with Godzilla in 2014 and has since grown into a global franchise, including ‘Kong: Skull Island’, ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’, and ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’. The universe also expanded into streaming with Netflix’s animated series ‘Skull Island’ and the Apple TV+ live-action drama ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’.
With production in full swing and a stellar cast lined up, ‘Godzilla x Kong: Supernova’ promises to deliver yet another action-packed spectacle that continues to redefine the monster genre on the big screen.
