Chittorgarh, Rajasthan Gangrar Police have registered an FIR against a Rajasthan based cable operator after a raid allegedly found the unauthorised retransmission of Sony Pictures Networks India’s pay television channels and live cricket matches without authorisation.

According to the FIR, the complaint was filed by Lakhveer Singh and Bikram Singh of Mediasoft Legal Solutions Services, acting on behalf of Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI).

The complaint alleges that Radiant Digitech Network, operated by Gopal Lal Nogaya in Gangrar, Chittorgarh, was found illegally retransmitting Sony’s pay channels, including Sony PAL, and live cricket matches.

It further alleges that the operator did not have a valid licence, agreement or authorisation from Sony Pictures Networks India to receive or retransmit its channels or broadcast the cricket matches.

According to the complaint, Sony Pictures Networks India holds the copyright and exclusive broadcast reproduction rights for several of its pay channels, including Sony TV, Sony MAX, Sony SAB, Sony PAL, Sony BBC Earth HD and Sony Sports Ten 1 HD.

The complainant also alleged that the cable operator’s network had been deactivated on July 1, 2026, but was later found allegedly continuing the unauthorised transmission.

The complaint states that representatives appointed by the broadcaster visited the location on July 8 and recorded the alleged unauthorised broadcast as evidence.

Based on the complaint, Gangrar Police registered FIR No. 165/2026 on July 9, 2026, under Sections 37, 51 and 63 of the Copyright Act, 1957. The case is under investigation.

The allegations mentioned in the FIR are yet to be proven in a court of law, and no findings of guilt have been established.
