Federal Bank Hormis Memorial Foundation and News18 Network, in collaboration with Tata Trusts as a knowledge partner, have unveiled a groundbreaking initiative named ‘Sanjeevani – United against cancer.’
This initiative aims to combat the pervasive fears associated with cancer while stressing the importance of early detection in successfully overcoming the disease.
At the inaugural event of ‘Sanjeevani,’ Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Mansukh L Mandaviya, reaffirmed India’s commitment to providing affordable cancer treatment. He emphasized that India offers 42 out of 90 cancer medicines at highly affordable rates and outlined the government’s holistic approach to expanding cancer hospitals, enhancing medical education, and strengthening health infrastructure.
Shyam Srinivasan, MD and CEO of Federal Bank, underscored their dedication to the Sanjeevani initiative, extending beyond awareness to providing on-ground support to caregivers who often face economic and physical pressure. The bank has initiated an employee program to engage with local communities, raise awareness, and encourage testing. Additionally, they are exploring AI-based solutions to simplify cancer detection, particularly in remote areas.
Siddharth Sharma, CEO of Tata Trusts, reiterated their commitment to combating cancer and making quality cancer care treatment accessible at affordable prices. Tata Trusts aims to break down social and economic barriers by emphasizing timely screening and early detection.

The Sanjeevani campaign emphasizes the critical importance of early detection and timely tests in saving lives through awareness, education, and collaboration with institutions like the ‘Federal Bank Hormis Memorial’ and ‘Tata Trusts.’
The event featured prominent personalities, including Padma Shri Dr. Rajendra Badwe, Director of Tata Memorial Centre, Amitabh Dube, MD of Novartis India, and esteemed oncologists. Notable cancer survivors like Lisa Ray, Yuvraj Singh, and Anurag Basu shared their inspiring journeys of overcoming cancer during a panel discussion themed ‘Courage Beyond The Spotlight.’
