In a recent interview, showrunner Eric Kripke revealed exciting details about the upcoming fourth season of ‘The Boys,’ including the addition of three new supes to the notoriously incomplete superhero team, The Seven.
The new characters set to join the fray are Sister Sage, Firecracker, and a surprise third supe portrayed by returning actor Nathan Mitchell, who previously played the enigmatic Black Noir, the platform said in a statement.
Kripke teased fans with hints about these fresh faces, particularly focusing on Sister Sage and Firecracker. Susan Heyward will portray Sister Sage, a character who subverts the “world’s smartest person” trope. Unlike the typical portrayal of such characters as reedy white men, Sister Sage is a Black woman from a disadvantaged background, constantly ignored despite her intelligence. “She could cure all of society’s ills, but no one listens to her,” Kripke explained, highlighting the character’s journey to becoming a bitter misanthrope.
Valorie Curry will take on the role of Firecracker, a character inspired by far-right political figures and extreme right-wing media. Clad in a red, white, and blue costume and with a penchant for firearms, Firecracker embodies a pistol-packing, conspiracy-minded persona. Kripke hinted at her surprising backstory, which connects her to existing characters within the show’s universe, promising to stir the pot with her shocking personality and unexpected ties.
Nathan Mitchell, who previously played Black Noir, will return in a completely new role, though further details remain under wraps. Kripke playfully noted, “It’s funny to go to an anonymous superhero and say, ‘We need you to take on this performance and you’ll be completely anonymous, but you’ll play this other role.'”
“The Boys” is based on the New York Times best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, who also serve as executive producers. Developed by Kripke, the series from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios will return with its fourth season on June 13, available in English and dubbed in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, exclusively on Prime Video.
With these intriguing new additions and the promise of further twists and turns, the upcoming season of “The Boys” is set to be another wild ride, continuing its tradition of blending satire, action, and dark humor. Fans can look forward to seeing how these new characters shake up the dynamic of The Seven and the wider universe of “The Boys.”
