In an undisclosed deal, Banijay, the prominent production company behind shows like ‘Big Brother’ and ‘MasterChef’, has acquired CA Media’s 49 percent stake in Endemol Shine India.
Deepak Dhar, CEO of Banijay Asia, will assume the same position at Endemol Shine India, while the future of former Chief Executive Rishi Negi remains uncertain at this time.
Under Dhar’s leadership, Banijay Asia and Endemol Shine India will forge a closer relationship and operate side by side, The Economic Times reported.
Previously, Dhar served as the head of Endemol’s India business from 2005 to 2018, before establishing Banijay Asia as a joint venture.
Currently, he oversees the content strategies, partnerships, new business ventures, and alliances for the wider Banijay group. CA Media has held a 49 percent stake in Endemol Shine India since 2012.
Banijay has stated that Dhar will refine the organizational structure of Banijay in Asia in the coming weeks, establishing new group-wide roles and dedicated creative positions within the two companies. The impact on staffing remains uncertain, and Banijay declined to comment further when queried by ET.
