Anmol Cinema is set to premiere the socially resonant film ‘Ek Kori Prem Katha’ on Thursday, October 30 at 1.30 pm. Directed by Chinmay Purohit, the film stars Akshay Oberoi, Raj Babbar, Poonam Dhillon, and Khanak Budhiraja in pivotal roles.
Set against the backdrop of India’s heartlands, ‘Ek Kori Prem Katha’ explores the deep-rooted traditions of society while celebrating courage, conviction, and the power of choice.
The story revolves around Sabhyata, a young woman who dares to challenge the regressive practice of ‘Kori Pratha’ after marrying into a conservative family. Her defiance sets off a battle of beliefs, pitting her against her father-in-law, the village head Thakur Ramdev Singh, played by veteran actor Raj Babbar.
As Sabhyata stands firm in her principles, her husband, portrayed by Akshay Oberoi, finds himself torn between love and loyalty — making for a compelling emotional conflict that questions long-held customs and the courage to reform them.
Speaking about the film, Akshay Oberoi said, “Ek Kori Prem Katha is more than a love story—it’s about standing by the people you care about while respecting their strength and choices. Playing Laddu was about learning to listen, support, and grow alongside Sabhyata’s courage. I hope audiences see that true love is about equality, respect, and courage to challenge norms.”
Khanak Budhiraja, who plays Sabhyata, shared, “Sabhyata is a woman who refuses to be defined by something she doesn’t believe in. Playing her reminded me how courage and conviction can inspire change. I’m excited for audiences to meet her and witness her journey on Anmol Cinema.”
Veteran actor Raj Babbar added, “Playing Thakur Ramdev Singh was challenging because he represents the weight of tradition and authority. The film explores how society grapples with change, and I’m glad to be part of a story that addresses an important social issue while showing the human side of everyone involved.”
Poonam Dhillon noted, “What drew me to Ek Kori Prem Katha was its focus on the strength and spirit of a woman who stays true to herself despite societal expectations. It’s a story that celebrates courage, dignity, and the power of choice.”
With its heartfelt narrative and strong performances, ‘Ek Kori Prem Katha’ promises to offer a meaningful cinematic experience that blends social commentary with emotional depth.
Don’t miss the World Television Premiere of ‘Ek Kori Prem Katha’ on Anmol Cinema, this Thursday, October 30 at 1:30 pm.
