Disney Star’s Aravamudhan K, widely known as Aru in the broadcast industry, has recently joined Viacom18 to lead the company’s public policy efforts.
With over 15 years of experience at Star India, now a part of The Walt Disney Company (TWDC), Aru brings a wealth of expertise in government relations and industry advocacy.
During his tenure at Disney Star, Aru served as the Executive Director of Government Relations and later as the Senior Vice-President.
He worked closely with industry associations, policymakers, and regulators, playing a crucial role in addressing various challenges faced by the broadcast sector.
Aru’s journey in the media industry spans nearly three decades, beginning with his role at Production House – Video Magazine (Eyewitness) and freelancing for election coverage on Doordarshan.
He has worked with notable media houses such as SAB TV, UTV, ITV, and STAR TV group before joining Star India’s media arm, Media Content and Communication Services (MCCS), in 2006.
At Viacom18, Aru will be responsible for shaping the company’s public policy initiatives, leveraging his extensive experience and deep understanding of the industry.
His appointment reflects Viacom18’s commitment to navigating regulatory landscapes and fostering positive relationships with policymakers.
As Viacom18 continues to grow and expand its presence in the media and entertainment sector, Aru’s leadership in public policy will be instrumental in driving the company’s strategic objectives and ensuring a favorable regulatory environment for its operations.
