Lucknow filmmaker Ghazal Javed’s short film ‘Detective Meter Down’ has won the Best Short Film award at the Indisches Filmfestival Stuttgart in Germany. According to a PTI report from Lucknow today,the festival is among Europe’s prominent events dedicated to showcasing Indian cinema.
The 30-minute short film is written by Ghazal Javed and directed by Devansh Agarwal. The award was presented on Tuesday, marking a major achievement for the team behind the film.
The film follows Rajesh Yadav, an autorickshaw driver from Bihar who moves to Mumbai with the dream of becoming a detective. As he tries to achieve his ambition, the story explores the challenges faced by migrants, their struggles, hopes and the search for a better life in the city.
Blending comedy with emotional storytelling, ‘Detective Meter Down’ presents the journey of a common man while highlighting the experiences of people who leave their hometowns to build a future in Mumbai. The film uses humour and drama to portray the aspirations and difficulties of migrant communities.
The recognition at the Indisches Filmfestival Stuttgart adds another achievement to the film’s journey and highlights the growing appreciation of Indian short films on international platforms.
