Amazon MGM Studios India and Zee Music have released ‘Dear Country’, the first song from the upcoming theatrical release ‘Nishaanchi’. The track, composed by Dhruv Ghanekar, is sung by Vijay Lal Yadav and penned by Pyarelal Devanath Yadav. Blending North Indian folk influences with playful English verses, it layers tabla beats, harmonium notes, and an infectious rhythm that captures the film’s true desi masala vibe.
The song’s music video is described as a vibrant montage of film shots, moving at a brisk pace to match the track’s pulsating energy. From high-octane emotions to light-hearted nok-jhonk and tender moments of children’s love for their mothers, the visuals paint a colourful, rustic love letter to the motherland. Whether you’re swaying to its beats or following the lyrical storytelling, ‘Dear Country’ promises to linger in the listener’s mind.
Talking about his creative process, composer Dhruv Ghanekar shared, “The idea was simple — capture the flavour of the hinterland the moment you hear it. We began with a traditional sound, then flipped it with desi, broken-English lyrics, the kind you hear in small-town conversations, straight from the heart. I had complete freedom to match the madness and heart of Nishaanchi’s script. Anurag’s films always have a distinct sonic identity, so I wanted something fresh and unexpected. Dear Country ended up fun, quirky, rooted, and just the right amount of unfiltered.”
Directed by Anurag Kashyap, ‘Nishaanchi’ is produced by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh under Jar Pictures, in association with Flip Films. Written by Prasoon Mishra, Ranjan Chandel and Kashyap himself, the film follows the story of two brothers who take starkly different paths in life, their choices shaping their fates. The movie marks the debut of Aaishvary Thackeray in a double role, alongside Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub and Kumud Mishra.
‘Nishaanchi’ will release in cinemas across India on September 19.
