Prasar Bharati has successfully generated close to Rs 288 crore during the initial two days of slot auction in MPEG2 on DD FreeDish, selling a total of 13 slots for the period spanning from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025.
According to several media reports, in the prominent Bucket A+, featuring General Entertainment Channels (GEC), six slots were secured, fetching bids ranging from Rs 19.05 crore to Rs 21.25 crore.
The comprehensive bucket, housing channels like Manoranjan TV and Masti, witnessed a total sale value exceeding Rs 123 crore.
Prasar Bharati achieved a revenue of Rs 171.5 crore from Bucket A, which included six slots designated for Hindi/Urdu movie channels, surpassing the reserve price of Rs 12 crore.
Bids in this category ranged from the highest at Rs 18.30 crore to the lowest at Rs 17.50 crore. Channels such as Colors Rishtey Cineplex, Zee Anmol Cinema, and Star Gold Thrill secured slots.
Moving to Bucket B, which covers music, sports, Bhojpuri language, and other genres in Hindi/Urdu, Chumbak TV clinched a slot for Rs 16.75 crore, exceeding the Rs 10 crore reserve price. The auction for additional categories is scheduled to continue today.
