Prasar Bharati has officially announced the winners of the vacant MPEG-2 slots on the DD Free Dish platform for the period from May 28, 2025 to March 31, 2026.
As per the released list, two television news channels — Bharat Express News (Hindi) and Pratham Khabar 24×7 News (Assamese) — have successfully acquired the available slots in the latest e-auction round.
This announcement comes as the result of the 87th e-Auction of MPEG-2 slots, held on May 19, aimed at filling vacant space on DD Free Dish.
The auction followed an extension of the application deadline to May 18, 2025, and was conducted under Prasar Bharati’s updated e-auction methodology 2025, notified on January 3, 2025. The mid-year auction operated on a pro-rata allocation basis, applying the same terms and conditions previously outlined by the pubcaster in its April 29, 2025 notification.
Only satellite channels licensed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting were eligible to participate in this round of the auction.
