Award-winning filmmaker Devashish Makhija and actor Anshuman Jha are set to collaborate on a new project, with the director confirming that his next film will be a crime noir.
The announcement marks a significant creative pairing, bringing together Makhija’s intense filmmaking style and Jha’s ability to take on layered, demanding characters.
According to a PTI report, the film draws from the director’s signature approach to storytelling — stark, immersive and emotionally piercing. Makhija, who has earned global recognition for films such as ‘Joram’, ‘Bhonsle’ and ‘Ajji’, is known for crafting narratives that blend social grit with psychological depth. This upcoming project is poised to carry forward his distinct treatment of the genre.
For Jha, the film presents a transformative opportunity. Known for performances in ‘Love Sex Aur Dhokha’, ‘Chauranga’, ‘Lakadbaggha’ and ‘No Fathers in Kashmir’, he steps into a role that promises to be unlike any he has portrayed so far. The press release describes his character as complex yet firmly rooted in Makhija’s world of realism and noir sensibilities, hinting at a performance that demands both restraint and intensity.
While additional details about the cast, plot, or production timeline are yet to be revealed, the collaboration has already generated curiosity within the industry.
