The stakes are sky-high, the palace walls echo with secrets, and suspicion is in the air as Prime Video readies to drop ‘The Traitors’, its newest reality thriller, on June 12.
Featuring a powerhouse ensemble of 20 familiar faces from film, TV, fashion and digital platforms, this Indian adaptation of the award-winning format is already causing a social media stir and it hasn’t even begun streaming yet.
As per an official press release, ‘The Traitors’ is a game of trust, treachery, and cold-blooded strategy. The twist? Among the 20 contestants, three are secretly designated as traitors tasked with manipulating and eliminating the rest without blowing their cover.
From the moment the trailer hit the internet, speculation erupted. X feeds, fan forums, and Reddit threads are ablaze with theories about who these secret saboteurs could be.
And three names, in particular, have already become the subject of much online speculation: Apoorva, Maheep Kapoor, and Sufi Motiwala.
Apoorva, also known as the ‘Rebel Kid’, makes an assertive entrance. Bold, expressive, and unfiltered, she seems to thrive in the heat of confrontation. Be it her quick-trigger temper in the trailer or her pointed run-ins with co-contestants like Uorfi, Jasmine, and Maheep, many viewers believe her unpredictability masks something deeper — perhaps even a motive?
Maheep Kapoor, in contrast, plays it cool. Too cool. Calm, composed, and calculating, she maintains a quiet poise that viewers are finding equally intriguing and alarming. The kind of presence that might just be lulling others into a false sense of security while plotting her next move behind the scenes.
Then there’s Sufi Motiwala outspoken and always on the offensive. From calling people out to throwing blunt accusations, he commands attention. But is his brash honesty genuine, or is it a clever tactic to keep suspicion off himself?
Produced by BBC Studios India Productions in association with All3Media International, ‘The Traitors’ brings the BAFTA and Emmy-winning global format from IDTV to Indian screens for the first time. The setting is lavish, the rules brutal, and the deception deliciously layered.
With new episodes premiering every Thursday at 8 pm starting June 12, ‘The Traitors’ on Prime Video promises to bring drama, deception, and jaw-dropping twists.
