COLORS is all set to launch its latest fiction show ‘Dhaakad Beera’, a poignant social drama that celebrates the bond between a brother and sister while taking a sharp look at deep-rooted patriarchal customs. The show premieres on July 24 and will air daily at 7 pm.
Set against the backdrop of a fictional Indian village, ‘Dhaakad Beera’ tells the story of Samrat, an 8-year-old boy who becomes the protector, parent, and sole champion of his baby sister Kishmish, who is unwanted by both her family and community. After a heart-wrenching farewell from their dying mother, Samrat pledges to guard his sister with all his might. His innocent yet powerful determination pits him against the very family that raised him , particularly Bhanwari Devi, his authoritative grandmother and the matriarch of the village.
The show features Divyam Shukla as Samrat and Rakshanda Khan in the pivotal role of Bhanwari Devi, a woman entrenched in tradition and power. While she dotes on her grandson and sees him as the heir to her legacy, the arrival of baby Kishmish threatens to disrupt her rigid worldview and dominance. In a village that silences women and clings to outdated customs, Samrat emerges as an unlikely warrior for change.
“ ‘Dhaakad Beera’ is more than just a story of siblings; it’s about questioning regressive beliefs through the lens of childhood innocence,” said Khan, “Bhanwari Devi may be feared and obeyed, but her relationship with Samrat is deeply personal; he’s the only one who can sway her. What happens when that bond is tested by a new born girl’s existence is the crux of this compelling drama.”
She added, “Children have the courage to challenge what adults blindly accept, and ‘Dhaakad Beera’ captures that perfectly. I’m glad COLORS is telling such a meaningful story about love, resistance, and transformation.”
Produced with an emotional core and a socially reflective narrative, ‘Dhaakad Beera’ invites audiences into a world where familial love is both a strength and a battleground. As Samrat faces prejudice, familial betrayal, and community pressure, his fight becomes one for not just Kishmish’s survival but her dignity.
