CNN-News18

CNN-News18 is set to launch a new weekend show titled ‘News18 Health Matters’, aimed at offering credible and evidence-based discussions around health and wellness at a time when social media trends increasingly influence lifestyle decisions. The half-hour programme will premiere on March 14, 2026, and will serve as a platform for viewers looking for verified information on health-related issues.

According to a press release, the show is designed to address the growing need for a reliable source of medical guidance as viral reels, online advice and trending wellness tips continue to shape everyday choices. With the central idea “Trending ≠ Truth,” the programme seeks to separate popular health trends from medically verified facts and provide audiences with science-backed insights into modern health concerns.

The show will be anchored by Hem Kaur Saroya and Himani Chandna and will air every weekend on Saturdays at 8.30 am and 5.30 pm, and Sundays at 10.30 am on CNN-News18. In addition to its television broadcast, the programme will also be available for streaming on the channel’s YouTube platform, expanding its reach to digital audiences.

India is currently witnessing a significant shift in its health landscape, with lifestyle diseases affecting younger populations and stress, sleep deprivation and digital dependency becoming increasingly common. Many health choices today are influenced by viral trends rather than verified medical advice, raising concerns about misinformation and unsafe practices. Health Matters aims to address this gap by offering expert-led discussions that help viewers make informed decisions about their well-being.

Each episode will explore practical topics linked to modern lifestyles. The show will examine the rising incidence of heart attacks among people under the age of 40, the overuse of protein supplements and their potential impact on kidney health, and the growing popularity of weight-loss drugs. It will also look into issues such as the excessive use of painkillers, stress-related disorders, screen addiction, chronic sleep deprivation, declining fertility rates, and the increasing prevalence of conditions such as thyroid disorders, diabetes and high blood pressure.

Speaking about the launch, Rahul Shivshankar, Editorial Affairs Director at CNN-News18, said the show aims to cut through the noise surrounding health trends and empower viewers with expert-led conversations grounded in science and medical evidence. He noted that at a time when viral content strongly influences lifestyle decisions, it is crucial to distinguish between what is trending and what is genuinely beneficial for long-term health.

Echoing similar views, Smriti Mehra, CEO – English & Business News at Network18, said that with the growing public interest in wellness and preventive healthcare, the new show strengthens the channel’s commitment to programming that addresses issues impacting people’s daily lives. She added that the initiative reflects the network’s responsibility to bring credible and verified health information to audiences in an increasingly crowded information ecosystem.

With the launch of ‘Health Matters’, CNN-News18 aims to reinforce its focus on meaningful journalism by offering viewers clarity and reliable guidance in an environment often dominated by quick fixes and viral advice. The programme seeks to provide audiences with credible information and thoughtful conversations that help them make better health choices.
