In a pioneering move, CNN-News18 is set to redefine morning television with the introduction of ‘The Breakfast Club,’ India’s first-of-its-kind morning show.
Anchored by Sonal Mehrotra Kapoor, the show promises a unique blend of news, lifestyle, and entertainment, designed to invigorate viewers’ mornings, the channel said in a press statement.
Scheduled for weekdays from 8 am to 9 am, ‘The Breakfast Club’ draws inspiration from Western morning show formats. Unlike traditional news programs, this show takes a non-political approach, focusing on delivering information that enhances viewers’ day-to-day lives.
The show’s dynamic format features mini segments of 5-8 minutes, covering a wide array of topics such as morning headlines, big events, business, technology, health, and real estate. Emphasizing clear calls to action, the editorial approach limits discussions to one expert per segment, ensuring concise and impactful content.
To enhance audience engagement, the show plans to conduct online surveys, utilize News18.com for trend reading, and debunk viral myths, addressing pertinent questions in viewers’ lives.
Zakka Jacob, Managing Editor, CNN-News18, expressed confidence in the show’s potential to redefine mornings, saying, “With ‘The Breakfast Club,’ we aim to make every viewer’s morning an engaging and energizing experience, setting a positive tone for the day ahead.”
Sonal Mehrotra Kapoor, the anchor of ‘The Breakfast Club,’ shared her excitement, stating, “Join us in this refreshing experience, where we’ve bid farewell to traditional news delivery. Let’s rise and shine together, India!”
Smriti Mehra, CEO – English and Business News, Network18, emphasized the show’s commitment to dynamic content, stating, “By blending news, lifestyle, and entertainment, we aim to provide our viewers with a positive start to their day, setting ‘The Breakfast Club’ apart from any other morning show in India.”
Set to debut on February 5, 2024, ‘The Breakfast Club’ will air on weekdays at 8 am on CNN-News18 and the channel’s YouTube platform, promising a new standard for morning programming in India’s TV news space.
