NAGRA, a subsidiary of the Kudelski Group and the world’s leading independent provider of content protection and multiscreen television solutions, announced that Claro Colombia, the US largest mobile telecommunications provider, has chosen TV key Cloud as a direct-to-TV offering for its Claro tv+ service.
Claro’s subscribers will benefit from a rich pay-TV experience that can be accessed directly through Samsung smart TVs, eliminating the need for an additional set-top box.
The launch broadens consumers’ multiscreen content consumption experience by providing access to all content in the Claro entertainment ecosystem.
“We are collaborating with Samsung and NAGRA to provide access to our customers who own Samsung TVs without the use of additional devices.” In this way, we reinforce our goal of allowing customers to watch TV when and how they want, in a simple way that does not require a receiver.” Rodrigo de Gusmao, Executive Director of Claro Colombia’s Mass Market Unit, stated this. “In addition, our expanded partnership with NAGRA builds on our recent Android TV success and reinforces our goal of providing our customers with the same experiences from any device with an internet connection.”
NAGRA and Samsung collaborated to define TVkey Cloud, which provides an intuitive, operator-defined user experience with integrated security.
TVkey Cloud also meets the MovieLabs requirements for 4K Ultra HD, HDR, and early release content enhanced content protection.
The solution fully utilizes the built-in features of the smart TV, including the remote control.
“We are proud of the long-term relationship we have established with Claro Colombia, as well as our ongoing efforts to assist them in expanding their market leadership position,” said Sebastian Kramer, Senior Vice President of Business Development and Product Line Management at NAGRA.
“This is another proven solution to facilitate the experience and respond to Colombia’s growing consumer market, building on Claro Colombia’s success and its innovative Claro tv+ proposition.”
To access the Claro tv+ service, customers can launch the activation process from the Samsung TV app store. “We are excited to innovate hand in hand with our strategic partners to improve the user experience. With this new option, we expand our portfolio of entertainment applications, so that customers can enjoy an immersive experience when watching their favorite content with the highest image quality and smart sound of our TVs,” said Paula Andrea Ospina, Head of Visual Display Marketing, Samsung.
Claro tv+ is the entertainment ecosystem where customers can enjoy the live programming experience anywhere and at any time through an internet connection.
