Actors Vinay Pathak and Amruta Subhash are all set to return to the big screen with a tender, heartfelt drama titled ‘Chidiya’, which promises to strike an emotional chord with audiences. Written and directed by Mehran Amrohi, the film is a slice-of-life tale about childhood dreams, resilience, and finding magic in the most unexpected corners of life.
‘Chidiya’ follows the story of Shanu and Bua — two brothers growing up in the tight confines of a Mumbai chawl. Despite the limitations of their surroundings, the boys dream big. When they decide to turn an abandoned junkyard into a badminton court, their idea sparks a quiet revolution, uniting their neighbourhood in a shared journey of mischief, joy and quiet victories. The story unfolds as a celebration of imagination, hope, and the silent strength of childhood, ANI reported from Mumbai.
Speaking about the film, Vinay Pathak shared, “The beauty of Chidiya lies in its simplicity. Sometimes the most powerful stories come from the smallest, most honest moments. That’s what makes this film stay with you.”
Echoing his sentiment, co-star Amruta Subhash added, “Chidiya is about dreaming big in narrow lanes. For me, it was about being fully present — no artifice, no acting tricks. Just truth. And in this film, even silence speaks volumes.”
Director Mehran Amrohi also opened up about the inspiration behind the story. “Chidiya is a love letter to childhood resilience. It’s about finding joy in scarcity, and how children’s imagination turns even the smallest spaces into worlds of their own. Shanu and Bua’s dream is simple — but it’s everything to them,” he shared.
The film had its world premiere at the prestigious Zlin International Film Festival, where it was praised for its poignant storytelling and honest performances. Now, Chidiya is all set to arrive in cinema halls across India on May 30, offering a welcome breath of fresh air to viewers seeking soulful cinema.
With its moving narrative and heartwarming tone, ‘Chidiya’ looks poised to leave a lasting impact a reminder that sometimes, even the smallest dreams can transform lives.
