In a decisive move, the Centre has banned 16 YouTube channels originating from Pakistan, amid heightened tensions following the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 civilians. The ban, enforced on Monday, comes as part of India’s broader crackdown on misinformation and propaganda being spread from across the border.

According to a report by The Hindu, the government has also expressed its strong disapproval to Jackie Martin, India Head of BBC, regarding the network’s coverage of the Pahalgam terror attack.

Officials conveyed concerns over the terminology used by BBC, notably its description of the attackers as ‘militants’ rather than ‘terrorists’, and a formal letter of protest was sent to the organization. Sources confirmed that the Indian government is closely monitoring BBC’s reporting on the incident to ensure accurate and sensitive portrayal of events.

As the grief over the Pahalgam tragedy continues to grip the nation, the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly convened a special session in Srinagar on Monday to honor the victims.

Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather led the House in observing a two-minute silence, paying tribute to the innocent tourists who lost their lives in the brutal attack. Lawmakers across party lines condemned the senseless violence and called for stronger measures to prevent such tragedies.
