Acclaimed British actor Carey Mulligan, known for her performances in ‘An Education’, ‘Promising Young Woman’, and ‘The Great Gatsby’, is reportedly in negotiations to join the cast of Netflix’s much-anticipated adaptation of ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Mulligan is in discussions to star alongside Daniel Craig, Meryl Streep, and Emma Mackey, adding further gravitas to an already impressive ensemble. The film will be helmed by Greta Gerwig, the Oscar-nominated director behind ‘Lady Bird’, ‘Little Women’, and ‘Barbie’.
This Netflix adaptation is based on ‘The Magician’s Nephew’, the sixth novel in C.S. Lewis’ beloved Chronicles of Narnia series in publication order (but the first in chronological order within the story universe). The novel explores the origin of Narnia, its creation, and the early days of the White Witch, offering a foundational tale for the franchise’s reboot.
Gerwig’s involvement as both director and creative architect has generated significant buzz ever since Netflix acquired the rights to adapt Lewis’ Narnia series. This project marks her first foray into the fantasy genre and is expected to set the tone for a fresh Narnia cinematic universe under the Netflix banner.
Mulligan’s potential casting signals Netflix‘s intent to combine literary prestige with top-tier talent, reimagining the classic fantasy world for a new generation. Production timelines and plot specifics are currently under wraps, with the project still in early pre-production stages.
