Sunny Deol-starrer ‘Border 2’ has crossed the Rs 200-crore mark at the domestic box office within five days of its release, reaffirming its strong hold over audiences nationwide. The film earned Rs 23.31 crore on its fifth day, taking its total net collection to Rs 216.79 crore, according to the makers.
As per a PTI report, the makers shared the updated figures on Wednesday, highlighting the film’s rapid rise at the box office since its theatrical release on January 23. The war drama has maintained steady momentum through weekdays after a robust opening weekend, reflecting sustained audience interest.
‘Border 2’ is the sequel to the 1997 blockbuster ‘Border’, which remains one of the most iconic war films in Indian cinema. Riding on nostalgia, patriotic fervour and Sunny Deol’s commanding screen presence, the new instalment has managed to strike a chord with both older fans and a new generation of viewers.
Backed by T-Series and J P Films, the film has benefited from a wide release and strong word-of-mouth, particularly in North India. Trade observers note that its performance is notable given the competitive release window and rising audience expectations for large-scale theatrical experiences.
With the Rs 200-crore milestone achieved in under a week, ‘Border 2’ has firmly positioned itself among the biggest box office successes of the year so far. Industry trackers will now be watching closely to see how far the film’s earnings can go in the coming days as it continues its theatrical run.
